Hair thinning, the forerunner of  hair loss, is one of the world’s most prevalent conditions. Men and women from different social orientations and age groups who suffer from this condition have been determined to have experienced lower self-esteem, oftentimes resulting to depression.

As a result, most of the people who are victims of this condition are in the search for the best hair loss treatment. Fortunately, the modern world offers a myriad of treatments ranging from natural to medical and non-surgical to surgical means to help treat and prevent the onslaught of hair loss.

The following are four of the widely used hair loss treatment options for both men and women:

1.       Natural Hair Loss Remedy

Herbal and natural remedies are safe and effective means of treating hair loss. Since all ingredients come from herbal essences of plants like olive, lavender, rosemary, saw palmetto, and stinging nettle, you are guaranteed a safe method of hair regrowth with a lower risk of side effects.

2.       Medical Treatment

Minoxidil and finasteride are the two FDA-approved medications for treating hair loss and hair thinning conditions. The former is a topical solution which belongs to a class of drugs known as vasodilators. Vasodilators are substances that expand the blood vessels in the body, thereby reducing the blood pressure and allowing proper blood flow around the scalp area.

Finasteride, on the other hand, is a drug that belongs to the class of androgen inhibitors. Androgen inhibitors help block the production of male sex hormones to prevent hair loss caused by excessive dihydrotestosterone (DHT) build-up in the scalp.

3.       Surgical Hair Restoration

Hair transplant is a surgical method of permanent hair restoration that involves the removal of small portions of hair-bearing scalp from the sides or back of the head (donor site) and transplanted to the balding spot of a patient’s scalp (recipient site).

4.       Non-surgical Hair Restoration

Laser hair therapy and hair systems are two cutting-edge non-surgical hair restoration techniques.  The former is a hair replacement method that involves the use of thin synthetic membrane which is attached to the scalp and is woven in with the existing human hair to create a natural-looking hair. The latter makes use of light healing technology in the form of phototherapy — low level laser therapy and light emitting diode therapy — to reactivate hair regrowth by stimulating dormant and weakened hair follicles at a cellular level.

Bottom Line

Before undergoing any of these hair loss treatments, it is necessary to consult an expert physician to help you find the root cause of your condition. Keep in mind that a hair doctor is the right person who can help you find the suitable hair loss treatment to stop the further onslaught of your problem.
